Ideally you should train your dog everyday in some way. I realise we all live busy lifestyles, but if you want your dog to improve you need to put in the work. A good time to train them is when you walk them and when you feed them. These are two things you do everyday so combining training with them is a great way get both done as part of your routine. It doesn’t have to be a formal session every time, short positive sessions that end with your dog having fun are vital.
What temperaments do you deal with?
In short all of them, one of my main focuses is dealing with reactive dogs and helping them become a well balanced member of society. With my background of being or former Military Police Dog Handler I am very comfortable dealing with aggressive dogs. When you understand where that aggression is coming from we can devise a plan to fix it.
What services do you offer?
We offer a range of training services that cater to all owners needs. These range from puppy programs, over 6month obedience programs, agility classes, advanced obedience programs, one on one sessions.
Do I need to have my dog assessed before using Doggy Day-care?
Yes all dogs have to assessed, this gives us a chance to check your dogs temperament to be with other dogs and gives you a chance to see our facility and have a policies and more explained to you.
Is it to late to fix my dogs problems if they are not a puppy?
No definitely not, the old saying "Cant teach an old dog new tricks" is a myth. Can it take a bit longer with older dogs, yes maybe but it can be done with consistent training.
How much does training cost?
This depends on what option you choose, get in touch with us to have a chat and we will explain your options that best suit you.
When should I start training with my dog?
The sooner the better, your puppy will go through a critical learning phase, which is where they are imprinted with extremely important life lessons that help them develop into a well balanced confident dog.
What training style do I use?
Dog training has evolved a lot over the years to the point where there is a split that separate's some trainer's. This being are you a positive only trainer or do you use corrections on dogs, generally called positive punishment. I am not a positive only trainer but certainly focus on using as much positive reinforcement as possible. Reprimanding a dog is not something any trainer enjoys, but there may be times where dogs need to be corrected for aggressive or undesirable behaviour. I would consider myself a balanced trainer who adapts to every individual dog according to temperament.
Are the dogs continuously monitored in the Doggy Day-care?
Yes they certainly are, safety is of upmost importance to us. Our staff are always watching and interacting with your dogs to ensure they have a fun, safe experience with us.
